this is an entry from last week...:)
For the past 3 days I have been diligently mixing down and burning The Pübes CDs for our CD release party at Hollywood Alley on Saturday night. I haven't gotten much sleep but I find that working towards a goal like this (specifically, an "event") gets me going BIG TIME - before I know it, it's 2am. The mixing part was probably the hardest, next to recording screamo punk rock vocals at 10am on a Saturday in my jammies pre-coffee (this can be "challenging"). I'd create a mix or 2 in about 30 minutes, burn a CD, run downstairs, out to my car, and pop it in to check the overall sound. Then I'd run back upstairs with my mental notes, remix, and repeat. After 2 days of this, I had my mix. It's rough, very lo-fi, and short (our average song length is probably about 2m30s)....like the Pübes:) I think it's a pretty good go, given that we did it all on our own, from recording, to mixing, to duplicating. I just hope that everyone enjoys it and the show on Saturday.
